Urban Gardening in Oslo
Parkens Grøde is a volunteer-run community garden in Oslo, part of a growing network of urban green spaces. Planning began in 2014, and by the summer of 2015, the first crops were planted on what was once a plain grass field. Today, it has transformed into a thriving food forest.
Though the land is owned by Oslo Municipality, volunteers manage it entirely. Each year, new members join, bringing fresh energy and introducing new plant species. The garden now has around 50 members tending small vegetable patches.
Parkens Grøde offers Sagene residents hands-on training in urban farming, with a focus on organic cultivation. It encourages sustainability, self-sufficiency, and local engagement, allowing people to connect with nature while contributing to a greener city.
